Malus Purple Wave a semi-weeping spreading deciduous tree. The leaves are a dense dark purple-green color about 3 inches long. In the spring it develops red buds that turn into large red flowers that fade to lavender-pink over the course of their bloom. Malus Purple Wave produces purple-red fruit approximately the size of cherries. Malus is also sometimes called a crabapple tree. It grows up to 25 feet tall and as much as 20 feet wide. Rosaceae
